Sailors,
Here’s a recap of the plan for the Bay to Bay.
Prep:
· We now have 6 sailors: John H, Rick, Patti, John G, Barney and I.
· The plan is to have 4-5 cars with trailers parked at Shelter Island. Two of the trailers are doubles, so we have a capacity up to 7 boats.
· The goal is to drop all boats at Bahia Point/MBYC and drive cars with trailers to Shelter Island, arriving there around 10 am. Miriam will ferry us back to MBay. If we wind up with 4 cars = 4 people to ferry back, we can do that in one trip.
· If the numbers don’t change, we will ask one of the sailors with a single trailer to park at Bahia Pt and will carry their boat on one of the double trailers.
· If one of you decides to join us, we may need a second ferry car. Will figure that out as it occurs.
· My cell phone is 858-220-3287. Miriam’s is 858-205-5197. We are both kinda klutzes with cell phones, so be patient.
On the water
· Please bring hat, water, sunscreen, a good length of line (30 feet?). a whistle if you have it. Maybe an energy bar. I don’t know if cells will work out on the water – bring a ziplock bag if you are going to try.
· Once under way, I hope John H and Rick will lead the way. Please look back and make sure you haven’t outrun us.
· I will be ‘sweep’ – that is, I will be at the end of the fleet and make sure everyone is moving along. I have a very loud signal horn to get the attention of the rest of the fleet as necessary. I also have flares.
Back safe and sound
· We will load the trailers at Shelter Island and drive back to MBay.
· John H will have his big boat at anchor in our cove and Rick will be running an inflatable to ferry us out to the big boat. Big celebration and ALL ARE INVITED whether you make the trip or not.
Thanks again to John H and Rick for inspiring and hosting much of this event, and Miriam for her help. I am really excited about this – maybe we’ll see dolphin up close out there.
