MISSION BAY SUNFISH FLEET NO. 632 IN SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA

The San Diego Sunfish Club  is run by volunteers who donate their time, energy, talents, trophies and awards as well as potluck meals. Many members of our fleet have lifelong experience in sailing Sunfish, while others have just begun their sailing adventure. Our club has both racing and leisurely events. There is a $50 signup fee for new members, which includes $10 annual dues. If you are interested in sailing with us, please fill out the Contact Us form, and someone will get back to you.

You will find us an informal group and easy to get along with. Our
San Diego Mission Bay Sunfish Fleet No. 632  has been sailing from a public beach at Bahia Point in Mission Bay, San Diego, California since 1966. The fleet sails every two to three weeks during regular racing season.
We also participate in sailing regattas and hold special events and fun racing days. Please check our schedule for details.

The Mission Bay Fleet No 632 uses the results of an entire season to award the first (Champion), second, and the third place honors. In 2009 season, new awards for the best woman sailor and the most tenacious sailor were introduced by commodore Les – in addition to the standard honors.

From West Mission Bay Drive turn north at the Bahia Hotel (Gleason Road) and head out the point. You will find us to the north of Bahia Hotel’s, at the far back parking lot adjacent to the public beach (998 W Mission Bay Drive, San Diego CA 92109) where the mark points on the map. Watch for the sails!

We sail ten race days, with three races during each day – for the total of 30 races per season.

Season scoring includes six throw-outs, allowing a skipper to miss two days without seriously impacting his or her score. The scoring is 1 point for first place, 2 points for second place, etc. Lowest score wins.We do not own club sailboats, so we do not rent any sun fish sailboats. Each member sails his or her boat. If you already have a sailboat, bring it a couple of hours before racing starts. We will help you rig it and get it in the water. If you don’t have a boat yet – no problem, just come and visit us during non-racing days.
